Economic inequality among nations has existed in a wide range of historical periods. There are also inequality among individuals and groups within a society. The nature, causes, and impact of inequality are open to discussions and up for debate. A country's economic structure, say for example capitalism or socialism or the presence of wars or history of past wars, and the differences in individuals' abilities to create wealth are all involved in the creation of economic inequality. It is a sad thing because inequality is linked iwth exploitation whether of people or of their resources. While we can enjoy the comforts of life here in our country and we can watch the ballgames and enjoy them, I agree with Poetic Justice that we shouldn't forget the unfortunate plight of others that is a consequence of economic inequality or unequal distribution of wealth and world's resources. Poetic Justice's reflection of sensitivity to other peoples' needs is really admirable. I know it sounds idealistic, but maybe if we could only share a bit of what we have, perhaps this world will be a better place to live in not just for us but for every one.

Let us be thankful for the fools, without them the rest of us could not succeed. -Mark Twain-
I'm not trying to be insensitive but inequality among people and/or nations are not because we don't share because even if we share and try to help them they if they don't want to help themselves we can't do anything about it. Even wealthy nations have people leaving in poverty. There are a lot of government and nongovernment programs to help them succeed, and only a handful of them do.
I think people in impoverish society chose to be that way. Take USA for example, education up to secondary school is free but the percentage of high school dropouts in this class of people is staggering. This is not even racial, whether they be whites, blacks, Latinos, or Asians, you'll find that representatives living in poverty.
Monkey see monkey does, if the child grew up in these kind of environment they tend to be like their parents because they don't know any better. Our Wellfare Act should be reformed to not just help this people survive but to help them succeed for the better. I see a lot of people abusing this system. They have too many kids than they can afford to begin with, but that doesn't matter the governmet will give them money for each kid. I'm not stereotyping, but the females who grew up in this environment tend to copy their mothers and the males tend to end up being gang members. These kids have to try as hard as they could to learn from their parents mistakes and lift themselves out of there. Unless, they are already content of where they are. Laziness travels so slowly that poverty soon overtakes it.
Maybe the problem here is that our society is too sensitive to other peoples needs. Too much carrots but not enough sticks. These people need a very loud voice to tell them about the reality to not feel sorry for themselves that nobody is helping because they need to start helping themselves.
